Chanting the divine names is a simple path suitable for the present day context. It has no ‘binding’ rules and regulations. Nama kirtan can be done by anybody, anytime and anywhere. It involves no cost. It is a path that requires no paraphernalia and leads to inner transformation. While mental repetition of the divine name leads to the good of the individual, chanting the divine names loudly purifies the singer, the listener (the scriptures say “Shrotrunapi punati cha”) and the very place where the chanting is done. It is verily for this reason that Sri Sri Swamiji advocates group chanting of the Maha Mantra. Chanting the Maha Mantra (eka Nama) helps one to develop concentration and one-pointedness.
Volunteers of our organisation inspired by Sri Swamiji’s spiritual guidance and with unwavering faith in the power of Nama kirtan organise regular group chanting sessions upon request. If you wish to host a group chanting session, please e-mail melbourne@godivinity.org.au.
